Health Care

South Lincoln Hospital District
    Caring for our Community
The Health Care needs of the communities and outlying areas of South Lincoln County are met by South Lincoln Hospital District, a free standing Tax District of the State of Wyoming, governed by a 6 member Board of Trustees. The District owns and operates the following:

*    South Lincoln Medical Center, a 16 bed acute care facility located in Kemmerer, Wyoming
*    South Lincoln Nursing Center, a 24 bed long term care facility (attached to the acute care       hospital)
*    South Lincoln Medical Clinic, a primary care Family Practice Clinic, located in the Medical Center building in Kemmerer
*    Two satellite clinics in Cokeville and Evanston, Wyoming
*    A Home Oxygen Service*    South Lincoln Emergency Medical Service (3 EMS and ambulance services - Kemmerer, Cokeville and LaBarge)* Sleep Lab Services
*

The Medical Center is approximately 13 years old. It includes a full emergency room, surgical suite, 2 LDRP (Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Post-Partum) suites, 6 nursery beds, 2 monitored ICU beds, laboratory, and radiology department. We offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, and audiology and speech therapy as in-patient, out-patient, and home health options. Skilled long-term care is also offered via our "Swing Bed" program. Short term "Respite Care" is also available.

The South Lincoln Medical Clinic, in Kemmerer, is just over four years old. We have 3 full-time Family Practice/OB Physicians, a Family Practice Physician's Assistant, a Family Nurse Practitioner, and a full-time general surgeon. We are also served by a diverse group of visiting specialists. Our Radiologist comes weekly from Jackson, Wyoming. Our General/Urological Surgeon, our Orthopedic Surgeon (weekly), and our GYN/High Risk OB Surgeon come from Jackson. We are served by an ENT Surgeon from Bountiful, Utah and Cardiologists and a Podiatrist (weekly)from Salt Lake City, Utah. A Pulmonary Internist and a Podiatrist come from Rock Springs, Wyoming about once a month.

Our acute care nurses are ACLS certified and well trained generalists as our rural location mandates we care for whatever trauma may arise. Our ambulances are capable of mobile intensive care transport and we are served by Life Flight and Air Med of Salt Lake City.

We are located in a high desert area, something of a John Wayne movie with sage brush and antelope. This area includes truly world class hunting, fishing, hiking, and skiing. Symphony, opera, theater, and shopping are just over 2 hours away in Salt Lake City, or 3 hours away in Jackson Hole. This is a safe place to be, a family oriented place. We have excellent schools, a fine library, and a really good recreation center. The life style is friendly and casual. The hustle and bustle of the big city is not here (nor is the traffic).
