Building Permit Questions:
What's a building permit?
A building permit gives you legal permission to start construction of a building project in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.

When do I need a permit?
The best way to find out if you need a permit is to call your local building department. Discuss your plans with the code official before beginning construction to determine whether you need a permit. Even if a permit is not needed, the code official will answer construction questions and may provide valuable advice.

Permits Are Usually Required For The Following:

  • New Buildings
  • Additions (bedrooms, bathrooms, family rooms, etc...)
  • Residential Work (decks, garages, fences, fireplaces, pools, water heaters, etc...)
  • Renovations (garage conversions, basement furnishings, kitchen expansions, re-roofing, etc...)
  • Electrical Systems
  • Plumbing Systems
  • HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems)

Site plan and building plans are required before a building permit can be issued.

All permits can be picked up at City Hall.

Contractor Certification:
No person shall perform work as a contractor, or be issued a permit to do work within the City for which a permit is required, who has not met the qualifications for licensing and is found to be competent by examination to perform the duties of the trade for which he has applied, and possess the appropriate license as recognized by the Wyoming Association of Municipalities.

The Kemmerer City Council is seeking individuals to serve on the Kemmerer Main Street Committee to assist them in revitalization of the downtown area.  In December of 2009 the City of Kemmerer was selected as an "Aspiring Community" by the Wyoming Main Street program.  This committee will focus on the development and implementation four areas that make the Main Street program successful.  Those areas are: Design, Organization, Economic Restructuring and Promotion.

The success of the program is dependent upon the citizens of the community participating in the revitalization of the down town.  You can participate by filling out the application and submitting it to the Kemmerer City Hall.
