The Kemmerer City Council met in regular session this 26th day of July, 2010 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Kemmerer, Wyoming. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Present on roll call were Mayor Michael Nelson, Councilwoman Pauline Sawyer, Councilman Brian Burg, Councilman David Lundgren, Councilman Anthony Tomassi and Councilman Zem Hopkins.

Motion was made by Councilman Tomassi to approve the agenda for July 26, 2010 as amended; seconded by Councilwoman Sawyer and unanimously approved by Council.

VISITORS’ COMMENTS AND PETITIONS:

(1) The Community Pride Award was presented to Jeff and Vicki Lowe at 1509 Canyon Road.

(2) Dave Dunn, candidate for Lincoln County Coroner, introduced himself to Council.

(3) Mike Richins, candidate for Lincoln County Coroner, introduced himself to Council.

OLD BUSINESS:

NEW BUSINESS:

 

(1) Motion was made by Councilman Tomassi to appoint Linda Jackson and Glen Williamson to serve on the Kemmerer Main Street Redevelopment Committee for the remainder of two year terms; seconded by Councilman Burg and unanimously approved by Council.

(2) Motion was made by Councilwoman Sawyer to authorize the application for a Bank of the West Grant in the amount of $10,000 for support of the Kemmerer 2010 cultural arts series; seconded by Councilman Lundgren and unanimously approved by Council.

(3) Motion was made by Councilman Tomassi to authorize the mayor to sign the contract with Ken Waldman for the performance scheduled on November 13, 2010 for the cultural arts series; seconded by Councilwoman Sawyer and unanimously approved by Council.

(4) Motion was made by Councilman Lundgren to authorize the Mayor to sign the lease agreement with Original Oystergrass, Inc. for use of city property for a horseshoe tournament; seconded by Councilman Hopkins and unanimously approved by Council.

(5) Motion was made by Councilman Lundgren to waive the building permit fees for the addition at the South Lincoln Cemetery District building; seconded by Councilman Burg and unanimously approved by Council.

COMMENTS:

 

(1) City Administrator Mike Archibald updated council on projects and programs.

(2) Council comments were heard.

(3) Comments were heard from Mayor Nelson.

There being no further business before Council, motion was made by Councilman Hopkins the meeting be adjourned; seconded by Councilman Lundgren and unanimously approved by Council, 7:47 p.m.

The Kemmerer City Council is seeking individuals to serve on the Kemmerer Main Street Committee to assist them in revitalization of the downtown area.  In December of 2009 the City of Kemmerer was selected as an "Aspiring Community" by the Wyoming Main Street program.  This committee will focus on the development and implementation four areas that make the Main Street program successful.  Those areas are: Design, Organization, Economic Restructuring and Promotion.

The success of the program is dependent upon the citizens of the community participating in the revitalization of the down town.  You can participate by filling out the application and submitting it to the Kemmerer City Hall.
